Strategic Education

FSLD coordinates campus partners to facilitate outcome driven education to members each semester. Campus partners include: Campus Support & Intervention, Counseling and Mental Health, Department of Public Safety, Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX, Fire Safety, Hazing Prevention, Relationship and Sexual Violence, Threat Assessment & Management, Office of Academic Integrity and Office of Community Expectations

Fraternity & Sorority safety priorities also highlight the initiatives to create conditions for well-being and safety.

Game Day

Gameday is a time honored tradition at USC and our goal is to ensure everyone feels welcome and experiences a safe gameday experience. Our team coaches students as they build risk prevention plans for their communities and works in partnership with Fire Safety, Department of Public Safety, Los Angeles Police Department, and Student Life. Student leaders are provided regular education on risk prevention and FSLD partners with Office of Community Expectations on following through on chapter and community accountability.

Event Hosting Education

Part of being a student leader is learning and executing safe and inclusive events. FSLD, in partnership with many university departments, facilitates a comprehensive educational sessions for chapter officers and advisors in understanding event hosting responsibility, risk prevention, accountability processes, and university resources. Regular coaching and follow through is provided by FSLD to chapter leadership, advisors, and inter/national organizations regarding event performance and accountability.

Trojan Family Weekend

Family connections is what makes the Trojan Family meaningful and is how the student defines their family and friends. FSLD, in partnership with Cultural Relations and University Events, facilitates educational programming for students and their families during Trojan Family Weekend. Events could include educational sessions, NPHC Receptions, and gameday experiences.

Hazing Prevention

FSLD, councils, and chapters provide educational programming and participate in hazing prevention week, hosted by the Office of Hazing Prevention.

Students joining a fraternity or sorority are required to complete two online hazing prevention modules.

Hazing prevention education is provided to chapter officers leading new member/candidate on-boarding and students joining a fraternity or sorority.

Fraternity & Sorority Awards

We celebrate and recognize the award winning fraternity & sorority community each year during our Fraternity & Sorority Awards program held each year.

Fraternity & Sorority Housing Leader Meetings

FSLD facilitates monthly meetings with housing corporation leaders and live in house directors for those alumni/ae house corporations who own chapter facilities. University resources and education is offered along with national fraternity and sorority housing experts.

Graduate Advisor & Chapter Advisor Roundtables

Stakeholders such as graduate and chapter advisors are critical to providing comprehensive coaching to student leaders and chapters. FSLD facilitates regular meetings with advisors, partnering with campus stakeholders to provide education and resources, and connecting their advisory work to the university, chapter, council, and inter/national organization.
